California Children's Services (CCS)
The Lassen County California Children Services (CCS) Program strives to assure access to medical services essential to the health and well-being of children with catastrophic or chronic illnesses and injuries. The CCS program is a vital part of the Public Health Department within the Lassen County Health and Social Services Agency. The Lassen County California Children's Services Department focuses upon assisting families meet the special health care needs of their children.
County CCS staff works with the families of all Lassen County children who are referred to CCS, to determine if they are financially and residentially eligible for the program. In conjunction with the State CCS staff in Sacramento, Lassen CCS staff case-manages numerous children enrolled in CCS. They educate families, local school personnel, and medical providers about the CCS program; and assist children and families in obtaining the specialized pediatric medical care authorized by CCS. CCS staff also works closely with the local special education programs to ensure that eligible children receive physical and occupational therapy through the CCS Medical Therapy Program.
