Civil

The Sheriff's Civil Officer receives, serves, and executes all civil processes and orders that are accepted for service in the manner prescribed by law. We process most incoming requests for service, and distribute process service to the field deputies for completion. Listed below are common civil processes, orders, levies, and services performed by our division. Sworn personnel serve restraining orders, perform evictions throughout the county, and enforce all civil enforcement judgments. The Civil Officer executes and processes claims, stays, exemptions, and bankruptcies on civil enforcement actions and communicates with the courts to determine dispositions. This office is closed on weekends and County Holidays. Any civil documents that are completed can be emailed to civil@co.lassen.ca.us for processing.

All others may be served by the Sheriff or a Registered Process Server.

THE SHERIFF OF LASSEN COUNTY WILL NOT SERVE THE FOLLOWING LEVIES AND DOCUMENTS unless you are incarcerated in the Lassen County ADF or have a certified fee waiver from the court.  The following levies must be served by a Registered Process Server.  Non levy civil process can be legally served by anyone over the age of eighteen who is not a party to the action or by a Registered Process Server.
